Sapa Trekking – When Love and Youth Walk the Same Path
The four of us — two close couples — were used to our morning jogs around the lake.
One day, we decided to “run a bit farther” — up to Sapa, to trek through Lao Chai and Ta Van, right in the golden harvest season.
From the early morning, the winding trail leading down to Muong Hoa Valley already took our breath away. Layer upon layer of rice terraces, floating mist, and the gentle sound of streams created a living painting.
Along the way, we met H’Mong children with bright smiles, Dao mothers carrying babies on their backs, and an old woman dyeing indigo fabric while sharing stories of the harvest season. Everything felt so close, so warm, so human.
That evening, we stayed at a small homestay in Ta Van Village. A simple dinner — mountain chicken, wild vegetables, warm rice wine — and laughter by the fire washed away every trace of fatigue.
The next morning, as the first sunlight pierced through the fog, we walked again — slowly, quietly, letting the mountains breathe into our hearts. Before leaving, someone whispered:
“Let’s come back next time — trek farther, climb higher.”
The trip was short, but the memories linger.
Because Sapa is not just a destination — it’s where our youth learned to love each other, and to love every road we’ve yet to take.
